Red Carpet Kudos and Catastrophes by Celebrity Stylist Lisa Cera

Wow, they really channeled old Hollywood times and I love it! The Academy Awards seem to have become more glamorous, from cabaret type sketches for the extensive stage settings, from music to fashion. It looks as though none missed it this year and everyone is dressed in top shape.

Trend wise, I saw a lot of corset tops, metallics, gold, cinched waist, white, purple, red and a few blues & nudes and beading, strapless dresses, tons of ruffles, ruching and lace details. There is so much variety in the year, risk-taking and of course, the glamor of miles! Marchesa seemed to be a celebrity favorite, once again, but obviously there were some great dresses and some not so great.

Zoe Saldana - presenter,

Wearing a beaded purple strapless gown with layers and layers and layers, and I said layers of ruffles? I may fall off the fence on this one. Where should I look at beaded top? The layers and layers, and did I say layers of colored ruffles? or on the long slit down the middle of her legs!
It was amazing parts of the dress separately, but together â € | CATASTROPHIE!

She carries her pleated ruffled Marchesa red gown with old dress very well, looks like she is very comfortable to wear it. Hollywood glamor, very form fitting channeling old glamor days Marylyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth. Hair in finger waves, red lipstick. KUDOS! And the Best Dressed!

Maggie Gyllenhaal - Dries Van Noten, bold move, very brilliant dress but the question isa € | Is it Oscar worthy??

Elizabeth Banks -presenter-

Gray figure sewn ruffled strapless Versace dress is adorable on her. I love the delicate beading and layers of ruffles that go on forever! Exquisite! - Best Dressed!

Kristen Stewart is stunning in her black pleated strapless dress. I would love to see earrings then she should have KUDOS!

Sigourney Weaver didnâ € ™ t really do the best dressed list. One shoulder is too broad and not very flattering for her body, and I think the belt should have been a beaded belt, something a little fresher when a black belt. Also I didnâ € ™ t as sheer bottom and black shoes. All this was a no no! Disaster!

Sandra Bullock - I wouldnâ € ™ t put her on the best dressed list in this dress. The beading on her hips and shine of the dress is a bit much for her, adding that in the harsh red lipstick and itâ € ™ sa not so great combination. Bullock's metallic Marchesa gown was compared with Olympic figure skating costumes. Ooops .. Sorry! Not a winner for the Oscar winner.

Penelope Cruz -Always a red carpet Kudos girl and best dressed! Looks fantastic in her red Donna Karan gown!

Mam € ™ nique looks confident and stunning in her dress. I love the shirring of the substance on her shoulders and bright colors that are beautiful on her. It lit her up. She takes the Oscar at all!

Tina Fey - wearing a Michael Kors a broad-shouldered black beaded gown with a banded waist. The shape of the dress is very flattering for her body, I would have loved to see a color lavender, blue, even silver, but she played it safe at the Academy Awards, and it was a great thing, especially because she was slammed to the golden globes! Good job Tina!

Carey Mulligan - strapless, beaded princess dress works well with her new blonde 'doo. Even the shoes were a little too thick and relaxed elegance of dress and earings were a bit tough. She still shook her youthful look with a little edge.

Faith Hill detail in waist and lace is nice, but perhaps a bit too much at once. It kind of looks like pieces thrown together and tasseled hair didnâ € ™ t fairly well with the dress .. A bit of a disaster!

Amanda Seyfriedâ € ™ s Armani Prive - such a beautiful youthful dress, the bodice is working on her body, its structured yet very feminine at her and ruching detail goes right down dress! - She looks like an old witch!

Miley Cyrus - Presenter looks quite grown up and beautiful! A perfect choice for her. Just a little posture work and its perfect!

Kudos to Oprah! Fantastic and slimming dress. Works amazing on her! From wrap top that SLIM her that the black ribbon around her waist paired with wrap skirt of the dress is perfect!

Jennifer Lopezâ € ™ s iridescent pink dress is Fabulous! She is endearing in her pink dress. The side ruching of the fabric is on her hips, but actually works with her body so perfect. I love the top and how it cuts across the bust line, waist, and then took . WOW.This is definitely a Best Dressed!

Kathryn Bigelowâ € ™ s dress is a little unappealing, to tighten and very boring. As well, her red bracelet doesnâ € ™ t work! Her hair and makeup was, at best, messy. Definitely not a fav of mine! Disaster!

Sarah Jessica Parker Love fashion statement of Sarahâ € ™ s pastel yellow Channel Couture dress with Metallic touches that only Sarah could pull off! I absolutely loved how she looked. It actually gave a kind 60a € ™ s feeling her up do and make up, and is refreshing to see a dress that screams â € œFASHION! Â €? on the red carpet.

Queen Latifah - looks so pretty stunning in her blush pink dress! The beading is from the shoulder in a forward curve at the waist, and it actually has a slimming effect, which is perfect for a full figured woman.The color works well on her and she exudes confidence.

Meryl Streep absolutely dazzling in its wintry white gown Chris March. It is very sexy and age appropriate for her. I especially love the drapes that go from shoulder to waist and back to shoulder again. I think this is the best I think she looks on the red carpet and Iâ € ™ d definitely say that she is a best dressed!

Demi Moorea € ™ s nude dress is fantastic and all the collection is sheering and ruching actually add volume to the dress, which she means so much good. Her shoes and jewelry perfectly put together. Definitely a fav.Best dressed!

Charlize T heron ruching detail on her pink Dior is covering her breasts and thatâ € ™ s all you see € | Breasts!-she looks like she has a Madonna-esqe thing to go ona € |. hmmmm not a winner to me! And red lipstick to boot!

Gabourey Sidibé - looks stunning in her dress. The Shirring and ruching works so well on top and diamond beading is strategically positioned perfectly on her dress to flatter her figure. The color is perfect. Job well done!

Kate Winslet's dress was beautiful in her Yves Saint Laurent Dress.The color was beautiful. I loved the graphic appearance of the upper and the way it worked with her necklace.

Anna Kendrick - Had a winning look. Her off-the-shoulder blush Elie Saab gown was enchanting to her. Make up fresh and flawless! Definitely the Best Dressed!
