When Vogue puts on a fashion show a few things are sure-top models, full designer support, and a stellar front row. But Tuesday evening Fashion's Night Out: The Show was a lot more than that. Error Free executed, the catwalk spectacular 1500 success gave participants the opportunity to witness one of the most prestigious shows in history and the largest of its kind to ever rock the New York City.
Over 150 of the world's top models walked the runway in the round outside Lincoln Center, but the show began with some of its most famous faces. Gisele, Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, Adriana Lima, Coco Rocha, and A less andra Ambrosio kicked things off, they arrived through Payless' Fashion's Night Out double-decker bus dressed in FNO gears and ball skirts. Other top models then circulated the gap in some of autumn's hottest trends, including 50s-inspired pastries, rocker chic confections, and roaring 20s dresses. The fantastic extravaganza that closed with a surprise performance by Pharell.
Anna Wintour pulled out all the stops to assemble the big guns. Designers as Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Vera Wang, Phillip Lim, Thakoon Panichgul, Jason Wu, Donna Karan , the Rag & Bone design duo, and Tommy Hilfiger all took a break from putting the finishing touches to their spring 2011 collections to sit in the audience. Carolina Herrera deserves extra props she got into the spirit of things by sporting a crisp white button-down version of FNO tee. Gossip Girl's Blake Lively and Leighton Meester also ate in FNO festivities, which is appropriate as the event is expected to make a cameo in the upcoming season. But the night's most exciting star observation was Roger Federer, , who took a break from U.S. Open to support one his biggest fans.
Overall it was a great way to Christianity Lincoln Center as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week's new home. To catch the show yourself, tune in to CBS on Tuesday, September 14 at 10:00. And prepare for yet more designer and celebrity sightings this Friday night at Fashion's Night Out. ~ Nola Weinstein
